It sounds counterintuitive, but using large tiles (like 12″x24″ or even 24″x24″) on the floor and walls is a game-changer. Fewer grout lines make the space feel cleaner and more expansive. 3. Go Big with Mirrors

A large mirror, or even a wall-to-wall mirror, will bounce light around the room and dramatically expand the sense of space. Consider a mirrored medicine cabinet for “hidden” storage that doesn’t add any visual bulk.

4. Install a Glass Shower Enclosure

Ditch the shower curtain. A frameless glass enclosure (for a walk-in shower) or a clear glass door (for a tub) allows your eye to travel to the back wall, making the entire room feel like one open space.

5. Choose Light & Bright Colors

This is a classic for a reason. Light colors—whites, soft grays, pale blues, and light neutrals—reflect light and make a room feel airy. Save the dark, dramatic colors for accents (like towels or hardware).

6. Leverage Vertical Storage

When you can’t build out, build up.

Install shallow shelves or a “ladder” shelf above the toilet.
Use a tall, narrow linen tower.
Add a recessed niche in the shower wall for bottles.

7. Don’t Forget Lighting!
